Karla stared at the Causeway. She needed to simply cross it and she’d be on the mainland. And there were plenty of people there who would enjoy taking advantage of a young girl, one who appeared lost and vulnerable. She would have no problem showing them the error of their ways, no problem with claiming the debt that their other victims couldn’t.
No problem with getting rid of whatever was left when she was done.
The Blood had no laws against murder, but even if they did, it wouldn’t matter. This wasn’t murder. It was justice.
She smiled and took the first step onto the Causeway.

"She attacked Max, and he stopped her, but now I can't reach her. Can you . . .?" She wasn't sure what she was asking, but she didn't know what else to do at the moment.

He sighed. "I did what had to be done, unfortunately."

Welcome to Katchoo's issues, population do you really want to know?
"What," she snarled, voice low and cold and not at all unlike Darcy's, "the hell."

She reacted on instinct: her lips turned back in a soundless snarl and there were the faintest glimmers of pink light haloing her features as Emma opened herself to her powers to her in a way she hadn't done in months.
"First person to twitch in a way I don't like gets a lobotomy," she snarled, voice colder than anyone in Fandom had ever heard her, even Jean, as she edged towards the fallen girl. < Karla? Karla! >

"Now that I have your attention, listen up! I presume everyone here is a friend of Karla and is worried about her, and if that's true, you'll stop arguing since it's not helping!" She looked at them all angrily. "Now, I'm taking Karla to my shop. If you want to help, you're welcome to come along, but leave Max alone, he didn't do anything." The goddess looked up at her companion, her voice softening. "Max, would you carry her, please?" She hoped that would show the rest of the group that she trusted the man. "I'll take the three of us to the store, and Dinah and our young friend here." She motioned to Ben. "Raven, can you follow us and bring everyone else?"

"Max, put her down there. Dinah, sit next to her, keep calling to her. We'll figure this out."
'Dite glanced at the boy who'd come with them, who looked much more composed than she felt. "By the way, what's your name?"
