Karla stared at the Causeway. She needed to simply cross it and she’d be on the mainland. And there were plenty of people there who would enjoy taking advantage of a young girl, one who appeared lost and vulnerable. She would have no problem showing them the error of their ways, no problem with claiming the debt that their other victims couldn’t.
No problem with getting rid of whatever was left when she was done.
The Blood had no laws against murder, but even if they did, it wouldn’t matter. This wasn’t murder. It was justice.
She smiled and took the first step onto the Causeway.

Date: 2009-10-26 07:53 pm (UTC)The glance held nothing of Karla in it, only rage and pain and the barest glimmers of recognition.
Here come the cavalry...

"Professor Max, this is no more a game..."

Date: 2009-10-26 09:01 pm (UTC)"What have you done?" she cried when she saw Karla's crumbled body and Max standing over her. She flew forward to put herself between Karla and Max and to shield her friend from any further attack.

Re: Here come the cavalry...
Date: 2009-10-26 09:13 pm (UTC)"Dinah! Something's wrong!" She made room for the teen, remembering that her friend had some telepathic ability. "She attacked Max, and he stopped her, but now I can't reach her. Can you . . .?" She wasn't sure what she was asking, but she didn't know what else to do at the moment.

Date: 2009-10-26 09:25 pm (UTC)Though, this was Fandom. It was possible.
He sighed. "I did what had to be done, unfortunately."

Re: Here come the cavalry...
Date: 2009-10-26 09:28 pm (UTC)She was guessing, since everyone else who showed up so far obviously was.

Date: 2009-10-26 09:36 pm (UTC)Now he couldn't feel anything coming from Karla. Slipping almost unconsciously back into what he'd learned as a member of the secret police, he asked, "What happened?"

Re: Max and 'Dite
Date: 2009-10-26 09:41 pm (UTC)"Max, wait!" He didn't stop, and she followed as quickly as she could, using her powers to teleport to his side when he almost got out of sight.
She managed to gasp out a sentence as they ran. "Is she . . . hurt?"
Re: Confrontation
Date: 2009-10-26 09:44 pm (UTC)Stepping in front of him, Aphrodite approached the teenager. "Karla? Hey, it's 'Dite." She reached out carefully to put a hand on the girl's shoulder. "Sweet Pea?"
