Just a few months ago, Karla would have fired off a text to a bunch of people, saying something useful like Hobart's killing all the B Widows. Going to stop him. Hugs & kisses, K and run off into the wilds of Glacia with no plan but a burning desire to stop the bastard in his tracks. But that was a few months ago--she'd learned a few lessons since then.

And one of those lessons was 'you do not simply text you friends when running into danger.'

So rather than making Ender and Emma sigh defaulting back to old habits, Karla had returned to the island, placing a number of handwavey calls to people letting them know she was back and needed to talk to them before she left the island again. See? That was like a step in the responsible direction.

Besides, she had to pack up most of her clothes. She wasn't sure how long she'd be gone for, but she she doubted it would be measured in days--probably closer to weeks or even months.

What a sobering thought.

Karla was in her room again, trying to decide where to hang her new paintings that she'd gotten from Sophie's gallery. Circle of Trust was probably going to hang above her desk, but she wasn't sure where to hang Stardust. The painting was amazing and would look lovely at the head of her bed, but she wouldn't be able to look at it while she was falling asleep if she hung it there.

Decisions, decisions...

Maybe she could hang the web from the fair over the bed. It had all sorts of geometric shapes in it, plus she hadn't gotten around to taking the Sapphire chips out. That might tie the whole room together nicely.

Karla felt much better by the time Monday morning rolled around. She didn't feel so damn drained, and every exercise of Craft didn't feel as if she were struggling to make it work. Which meant that she could finally Heal her face; she hadn't been fond of the idea of starting classes with a black eye and split lip.

Instead of returning to her dorm after class, however, Karla found her cabin instead. There were no signs of her cabinmates, yet, so rather than chat, Karla decided to finally figure out whatall it was that she was carrying with her. Going into her room, she called in all of her belongings. A near avalanche of bags, boxes, and trunks appeared from nowhere to land on her bed and the floor. Rooting through one box, she grabbed a pen and paper, and made three columns: Things to vanish, Things for dorm, Things to buy. And then got to work sorting, stacking, and cursing.

Extra cursing.

After the picnic, Karla went to the dorms and found her room. Thank the Darkness, it was only on the second floor; she wasn't certain how much further she'd be able to go before just falling asleep on her feet. Even if being attacked and having drained the Sapphire nearly to the breaking point hadn't been enough, the shock of being at Fandom was enough to knock her on her rear. The similarities between Kaeleer and Fandom were few enough to count of one hand and still have enough fingers left over to play the piano.

Once she was rested and more balanced, things would almost certainly start making more sense. Until then, though, the sheer strangeness of the place was well-nigh overwhelming. And this coming from a girl who had to wander through illusions and dreamscapes for school.

Once she was in the room, calling in her belongings felt like too much work--she'd been using Craft injudiciously again. Besides, there had been talk about moving to a cabin in a few days anyway. Why unpack now, when she'd just have to repack and vanish it later?

Although she would have to go through everything and discover what exactly she had with her. She doubted it would be enough for the next few years. Did Fandom have a village nearby where she could make purchases? And did she have enough ready cash on her to pay for everything? She doubted she could just go through and purchase things on credit, the way she did back home.

Calling in several thick, blankets just about killed the last of her reserves. Throwing them on the bed she'd claimed, Karla curled up beneath them and fell immediately asleep.

[[Door and post open for Saturday afternoon, however Karla will spend a lot of Sunday handwavily wandering around town. If you do want to talk, you luckily managed to catch her right before she left or right when she got back home. Otherwise, she pretty much spends Sunday evening the same way she does Saturday: asleep.]]
