Hallways of Fandom High, Monday Morning

Bart walked slowly out of the class he had just been in. He flipped his back around and rummaged through it and pulled out a crumpled piece of paper. He started walking down the hall, then stopped short on his heels. He turned around, said to no one, "that way!" and started running in the opposite direction, not noticing the girl who had just left the class behind him. Bart made a surprised noise and it looked like he should have had a big cartoon exclamation point over his head. "Grife! Sorry. Didn't see you there." |
Karla |
"Oof!" Karla said, hitting the ground. She still wasn't entirely sure what had happened. "Umm. Ow?" |
Bart |
Bart looked around at the other people in the hallway who clearly didn't notice or care what was going on. He looked mortified. "Oh Grife. I'm sorry." He reached out a hand to help her up. "I'mnewhereandIdon'tknowwhereI'mgoingand |
Karla |
Well, she had the looking at him weird part down as she reached up for his hand. "It's okay," she said, having picked up the apology at least. The rest of it was all some kind of audible blur. "You were in class with me, right?" It was easy to pick out the new kids; they were the only ones she didn't recognize. "Where in the Darkness were you running off to?" |
Bart |
As soon as she spoke, Bart's face immediately relaxed. When she mentioned the class, he smiled and nodded, his hair flopping in his face. "Oh!" He looked at the crumpled piece of paper in his hand. "I was going to my next class which is... " He glanced down again and looked crestfallen, "on Wednesday." |
Karla |
Karla had to laugh at that. "Welcome to Fandom," she said as she pulled herself up off the floor. And since she already had his hand, she gave it a quick shake. "I'm Karla. You can buy me lunch as an apology. The cafeteria's just a little ways away." She didn't think Warren would count this against their delicious lunches forever. Not from the cafeteria. |

Bart shook her hand and nodded, not really sure what he was agreeing to. He had never had to buy lunch at school before. "The cafeteria. Okay. I can do that." He nodded and there was a soft "foop" noise and where there was once a shaggy-haired, large-footed teenager there was now a tiny baby cheetah. The cheetah looked up at Karla with big eyes, cocked its head to one side and made a small mewing noise, then looked surprised at the sound it just made. |
Karla |
"...Damn it, Fandom," Karla said with a sigh. "What about my lunch! Hell's fire, I didn't even get his name! Now what am I supposed to do with him?" Except...aww. He looked so confused and lost. She knelt down and scooped him up. "You're lucky I turn into kitty occasionally and can take care of you. C'mere, you. You are in for such a surprise when you change back." |
