It was sad being stuck in sweaters and sweatshirts again--and right now Karla was wearing both because it was cold, dammit--but it wasn't like there was nothing to do in Fandom. Just because they were no longer in Hawaii didn't mean they couldn't keep themselves entertained.

...It just all had to be inside. And not on the beach. And probably wouldn't involve brightly colored drinks decorated with cute plastic animals and tiny umbrellas.

Instead, Karla had decided that the boyos were going to host another movie night. Rather than let Ender choose the film, she'd grabbed one about a snake and a magical cup or something. She hadn't really been paying attention. Actually, she was planning to use it for background noise while she and Ben bitched about Ender's tan and she laughed at Ben for getting his face stuck to the table that one time.

"Kiss kiss!" she called, poking her head through the door. "I'm bored, so guess what! We're hanging out today!"

Weren't they so lucky?

"If you need to think so," Ben replied with a quick grin.

"Mhm," Ender said, which managed to answer absolutely nothing while still projecting the idea of an answer.

He was brilliant that way.

"Then we're all happy in our delusions," Ben replied, reaching out to poke her.

"The perfect medium for any human being," Ender said, "And the cycle is once again complete."

Karla was tempted to ask what Ender's delusion was, but figured that would only drive their conversation into very deep waters. "I guess--what in the name of the Darkness is happening on the teevee?" she asked.

Galahad had discovered Castle Anthrax.

"Girls," Ben observed astutely.

"Yes, I think that's what Karla was confused about," Ender said.

Karla decided that Ben needed a pillow to the face for his answer. "Whatever would I do without you and your helpfulness."

"They make exotic underwear?" Ben adding, laughing from under the pillow.

"Please try to avoid actually suffocating him," Ender advised, "Or he'll come back and probably haunt us with commentary."

"I'm just going to smother the funny out of him," Karla promised. "Kill off those braincells that think he's hilarious."

"I am hilarious," Ben declared. "And you're blocking my view to the women in the exotic underwear."

"Well," Ender said, wryly, "That's Ben Skywalker: priorities in the face of peril."

Karla just rolled her eyes, removing the pillow from Ben's head so he couldn't miss anymore of the not-exactly-scantily-clad females on the screen. "If you get eaten by a rancor one day because you got distracted by half-naked females and forget to run, I am going to laugh," she informed him. "Laugh myself sick."

"Oh, the Dathomiri witches are totally scantily clad," Ben said, "but you don't notice because they are also terrifying."

"I suddenly feel so much more relieved about our trip there," Ender said, tossing his empty box aside and biting into the (now cold) roll Ben had passed him earlier.
