The Estate, Sidra, Glacia, Tuesday (Fandom Time)

Warren had gone to graduation, but Karla hadn't been able to get away to go, too. That had been disappointing, but it had meant she'd been able to make sure that there was literally nothing about to go wrong or that would need her attention for the next week or so.

Why?

Because Ben and Ender were visiting, eeeeeee!

While she couldn't ignore her responsibilities entirely (more's the pity), she had informed her entire First Circle that she would be largely unavailable for the duration of the visit and was to be bothered only in the direst of emergencies. And if there was a dire emergency, they needed to inform her on psychic threads and never in front of her visitors.

If anything happened, Ben and Ender weren't going to know about it, dammit. And most certainly wouldn't be involved in fixing it. But nothing was going to happen. She was Quite Serious about everything going smoothly. Were you listening, Kaeleer? Nothing bad was allowed to happen.

He had to be if he was serious about coming and listening, with the possibility of becoming embroiled.

Her eyes widened a little in surprise, but she shrugged and nodded, deciding not to poke any further. "I'll see what Mallory has on the docket and pick the good ones," she agreed. "Sparing you the joys of tithing accountancy and sewage repairs."

Though if he really got bored, he could certainly take those off her hands while he was here. She'd be more than okay with that!

"Oh, no," Ender said with a little laugh. "I left those behind on Shakespeare. Good for everyone; I'm a novice at waste."

"If Ben gets too bored while you two are visiting, feel free to mention it to him," Karla suggested. "I'm sure he'd love to putter around making Sidra a fleet of sewage-droids."

Which would probably terrify the living Hell out of the residents, a thought that probably shouldn't have amused Karla as much as it did.

Ender's mouth quirked.

"I'm trying to encourage him to get involved with the police at our next stop," he said, "But he's tackling engineering for his summer class at Fandom. He might be able to get his students working."

"Oh?" Karla tried not to look too pleased at that. "You'll both be teaching this summer?"

Wow. Ender must be super-bored for that to sound appealing. "Philosophy again for you?"

"Philosophy for me, engineering for him," Ender confirmed. "Keeping ourselves better while we stalk our erstwhile grandchild."

"Who I still don't know, as I didn't tell Warren such a child existed, so he couldn't keep an eye out for me," Karla said primly. "See? I've learned to behave!"
