After a brief pit stop at the other island off the coast of San Francisco (look, Alcatraz loomed large in Karla's recollections; there was a lot of trauma associated there), Karla and the others made their way to Utopia--which, truth be told, probably should have been their first stop, consider how utterly ridiculous it looked. Was there some kind of side effect of the X-gene that drove them towards horrific ostentation?
...Okay, someone was feeling a little bitchy right now. Short of sleep and long on worry did not make for a particularly charming Karla.
But hey! No one here would be surprised when Karla stormed in and threatened to rip everyone and everything apart until they brought her to Jono. They'd dealt with her before. That was okay, though. She wasn't here to make friends.
The doors to the base slammed open and Karla strolled inside, totally not spoiling for a fight at all, thank you. She collared the first mutant she could see, a pink-haired girl with wings, and pleasantly snarling, "Where is Jono? Now, please."
That was a friendly smile, Pixie. Really.
[NFB, for folks who wanted in on the yelling!]

"You do not touch me," he informed her, stiffly, before turning his attention to Raven. She seemed to strike him as the saner person in the room at the moment. "And maybe you can comprehend how marching in here and informing me of anything might be counter-productive."
Where Logan got the beer he was opening while he enjoyed the show, Scott didn't want to know.
"If Jonothon wants to leave, I can't keep him. But Dr. Rao would rather be positive he's in good hands, first."

"And I'm fairly certain you can inform Kavita of our healing abilities, considering you've seen them for yourself in the past."

She fixed Scott with a sterner gaze. "The last time Jono was affected by a transformation, he was left alone. He is family to us, and we cannot let that happen again. Surely you can understand that."

"Believe it or not, we X-Men do have some idea of the concept of 'family," Scott noted, his tone dry. "Especially after what we've just been through."
He gestured toward the infirmary, on the other side of the pane of glass that divided them from where Jonothon was sitting.
"I know you're both adept healers. But Jonothon also needs to be around someone with a calm head, and one of you doesn't seem to be capable of demonstrating that she knows the meaning of the word."
He'd actually look into the other room eventually and realize that Jono wasn't alone in there. In the meantime, Logan was going to keep drinking his beer, enjoying the show. Karla was much more amusing when it wasn't him who had to deal with her.

"You'll notice, I haven't attempted to go through you yet, or used any of our myriad powers that would enable us to just go get him and be gone. But, yes, I'm going to continue to be snide while you're take your turns in this pissing contest."

Date: 2013-12-27 05:09 am (UTC)She gave Scott her very bestest cheerful smile.
"I think what you actually mean to say is, 'Karla, be nice.' And, you see, niceness isn't actually required here. It might be polite, but I don't really feel like being polite right now. If Scott wants to continue to stonewall us and keep Jono from getting the best care possible because he doesn't like my tone, well then I have a few choice, not-very-nice-or-calm comments for him. But we're not here as supplicants or to boost his leadership feelings, so he'll do what's right, his personal feelings aside, isn't that right, Scott?"

Date: 2013-12-27 05:21 am (UTC)"Mr. Summers, please just let us go to Jono, and we will leave this place quickly. I think we will all be much happier then."

Date: 2013-12-27 05:35 am (UTC)"The more she opens her mouth, the less I believe she's good for anybody," Scott noted, eyebrow raised. "And I don't take well to people forcing their way into my home and throwing their weight around to get what they want. I've fought too damn hard to--"
Logan's laughter was actually distracting enough, now, to have Scott taper off and throw a dirty look in the Canuck's direction.

Date: 2013-12-27 05:41 am (UTC)"Don't worry," Karla said brightly to Scott. "You'll understand why he's laughing in just a moment. In fact, if you wanted to turn around now, you'll probably understand immediately."
Probably being key, here. Karla didn't think much of Scott's powers of perception--and that wasn't an eyesight joke.
"Thank you, gentlemen. We've got Jono now, so we'll be on our way. Your hospitality has been most...well, let's not go into details. Ready, Raven?"

Date: 2013-12-27 05:55 am (UTC)"Excuse us, please!" Blossom carried Jono in her arms past the strange man and towards her team, floating rather higher than normal so that the long coat of Jono's that she was wearing wouldn't drag the ground.
...
"Thank you for your hospitality."
What? Blossom was raised to be polite.
