After a delicious lunch of sausages and snacks, courtesy of Liir over in the Millard Filmore campfire, karla headed back home to RBH. Mostly she wanted to see if Dinah was home yet, though there was also the copy of Macgruff to finish. She hadn't gotten as much reading done over the weekend as she'd thought she would. After Friday and Saturday's parties (and Saturday's hangover, though she wasn't going to think about that), Sunday had been mostly devoted to sleeping.

So she was in the common room with a book, though how much reading she was getting done was up for debate. And wondering who to ask for computer lessons.

"It's weird," Ino said conversationally, as she wandered into the cabin, "having a class first thing in the morning and last thing of the day, did you know that?"

Ino was not always great with hellos. "I'm Ino, by the way."

Karla looked up from Macgruff and smiled. "I'm Karla. We have Spy Games together, don't we? And I don't know; the only day I have two classes, they're back-to-back."

"We do," she said, "and it's neat and had better keep being neat 'cause otherwise I'll mope."

Well, she would.

"What other classes are you taking?" Ino asked. "I've got Logically Speaking later this week, and obviously Spy Games later today--which, so do you clearly--and Arts & Crafts was this morning." She held up a dreamcatcher with many beads and utterly no feathers. "Which is... well. Alright, I guess."

"I'm taking Sexual Anthropology, Culture Shock, and Practical Etiquette," she answered, ticking them off on her fingers. "So far they all seem very useful--though I did manage to shock at least one girl in my Culture Shock class, and annoy a male." She smirked. "I didn't mind annoying him, though. It was fun."

"Guys are fun to annoy," she agreed, grinning. "And they're so easy to rile up." So was she, admittedly. "How did you shock someone?"

"Hey, Ino," Dinah said. "How was your weekend? Sorry about waking you up on Thursday night. I tried to keep it down." Given how badly she was freaking out.

"I'm not going to bite your head off," Ino said dryly, flicking a bit of lint at her. "Just so you know, I sleep light." Really light, unless she was chakra drained.

"Everything taken care of then?" It wasn't her business what it was. Ino did have boundaries after all. "My weekend was average--work and a birthday party to go to."

Dinah grinned at the lint-flicking, and tried to TK it back. Hmm. Not so easy.

"Yeah, it's good. My sister was in the hospital, but she's okay now. My other sister was freaking out, that made it harder. Plus there was our work stuff that took a while to sort out. But it's all good, and shouldn't happen again." She sighed in remembered relief. "Oh, hey, how was Chuck's party? I'm bummed I missed it."

"Very green," she said promptly. "And filled with beautiful 'flowers'."

Flowers meaning the girls, naturally.

"I'm glad things worked out for you, though. Has that happened before? With the shouting?"

"Hey, Karla," Tony said. He'd brought a deck of cards out from his alcove and now he sat down on the floor and started shuffling them, planning to play a game of non-digital solitaire. "How was your weekend?"

"Hi Tony," Karla greeted. She watched him play cards with something almost like gratitude. Something! A past time she understood! "My weekend nights were a lot of fun, my weekend days not so much. I was hungover ill all Saturday, and I spent most of Sunday asleep. But the parties were great."

"'Sleep all day, party all night,'" Tony grinned.

"Something like that," Karla agreed. "Though I spent a lot of Saturday night on the beach, talking with Jon. If I'd known that was how I was going to spend the evening, I wouldn't have bothered wearing that stupid dress just to look like an idiot," she groused.

Tony grinned. "What was the point of the dress, then?"

"She gets a hello, and I don't?" Ino inquired lightly, giving him a grin. "That's not very fair."

"Hey, Ino," Tony smiled. "Tormented any newbies yet?"

"I wouldn't do that," she said, eyes wide and totally innocent. "I'm a kind and caring soul. I live to give them support and direction."

A beat.

"And laugh as they get confused."

"Which isn't hard around here," Tony grinned.

Dinah came back to the cabin after Terrain, and smiled when she saw Karla. "Hey! I have something of yours to return! It didn't get used, I couldn't talk Helena into it."

"Dinah! Welcome back!" Tony hopped to his feet and went to hug her.

Dinah returned the hug with extra force, and said, "Thank you so so much for taking care of Camille while I was gone."

"Of course," Tony said. "How's the family? No death-by-squabble?"

"Dinah! Hello!" Karla jumped up to give her a hug. Then she leaned back and peered intently at the other girl. "Everything's okay," she said, more as a statement than a question. "I'm very glad."

Dinah hugged her back, surprised but pleased. "Yeah. It's much better. Barbara's out of the hospital tonight. Um, no longer under a doctor's care," she translated belatedly. "And she promised not to be incredibly stupid and wind up back there again."

"You wouldn't look so happy to be here if she wasn't okay," Karla explained, noting Dinah's surprise. "You care for her too much to be this happy if she were still in danger."

Back in Kaeleer, they had a code about speaking about their patients. "May I inquire about the nature of Barbara's condition?" she asked delicately.
