The Beach, Friday, Lunchtime
May. 15th, 2009 01:46 pmSo that was the ocean. Karla hugged herself a little, grinning a large, dopey smile. Even though the day was cloudy, the beach was still beautiful. The water had a slightly gray cast to it, a reflection of the overcast sky, but that didn't stop Karla from hiking up her skirt to knee-height and wading, calf-deep, in the water, kicking up great big splashes of it. Ben was supposed to be showing up for an airwalking lesson (one that would be taking place on the ground this time, lucky him), but until he did, Karla was free to laugh and play like she was nine again.
Within minutes she was soaking wet, and shivering whenever the wind blew, but who cared? It was the ocean.
[OOC: For Ben, though its a free and open beach]

Date: 2009-05-15 09:18 pm (UTC)"Don't you know not to sneak up on a witch when she's playing in the water?" she teased, coming up to onto the beach. "It's bad luck. Everyone knows that." That statement could almost have been taken as ominous, except it was hard to be intimidating wringing seawater out of one's hair and clothing.

Date: 2009-05-15 10:36 pm (UTC)"Okay, so the first thing I want you to do is to take off your socks and shoes. Stand barefoot in the sand," she instructed, brushing off her arms. "And close your eyes. I promise not to bite."

Date: 2009-05-15 11:49 pm (UTC)disturbswounds me," she assured him.She concentrated and frost covered the sand beneath Ben's feet. "It's like floating something through the air, but you do it to yourself. I want you to feel the sand. I mean, really feel the sand. Feel every grain individually, feel the coldness of the frost, feel the least little movement beneath your feet. And now feel that all the way up through you, until you're not sure where you stop and the roof begins. And when you feel that, close your eyes, and walk across the beach. Feel every step. And concentrate on floating yourself."

...and it worked, at least for a second.
