Remembering the frustration and whaa? of Karla disappearing for a bit with Ben and Ender, and the fact that hey, she left a message, Dinah remembered to be that good and leave one too.

"Hey, Karla. It's Dinah. I'm going home for a day or so. Weird... thing, Wednesday night. I'll tell you about it when I get back tomorrow, if someone else doesn't beat me to it. Talk to you soon!"

It took a while, as Karla still didn't think to check her phone, but she was getting better at it. Slowly.

Of course, as soon as she heard the message, she was calling back. "I got your message," she said, sounding confused with an edge of worry. "I haven't talked to anyone, so find me as soon as you can, okay? I'll be around."

"...okay, last-second call, I'm about to step into a Portal to Dru Anderson's home reality, she's worried about her dad, and the place has spooky stuff. And Kennnedy thinks fighting demons will be fun." Yeah, you could hear Dinah's opinion on that. "So, I'm going along because Kenn dared me and I don't want them to get hurt. Back as soon as I can. I'll check in tomorrow. And call me if something comes up!"
