The Estate, Sidra, Glacia, Thursday (Fandom Time)

Winsol had been going on now for several days. The family had just decamped from SaDiablo Hall in Dhemlan back home to Glacia to continue the festivities in their own home. There would be several more days of formal events, but this evening was just for family and close friends (specifically friends close enough to be family). The children were tumbling around like puppies, a mix of Earth and Kaeleeran carols were playing from floating music spheres scattered throughout the suite, fires crackled in the large hearths, and food and punch and hot spiced rum were piled high on the sideboards throughout. "Happy Winsol!" Karla said, holding up her cup in a toast.

"Happy Winsol!" the room chorused back to her.

"And a happy new year!" Dinah cheered, taking a sip of her drink, and leaning into Priestly. Thank God for time-changes, because it meant they could visit Karla before starting their own marathon holiday plans.

Priestly slung his arm around her waist and attempted to rest his chin on her head. It didn't go well.

This was what happened when you had a tall girlfriend.

"Cheers." He raised his spiced rum. If anyone asked, it was fortifications for the hectic days ahead. Or, you know, he was clinging to it (and Dinah) for warmth. "When is the Glacian new year?"

Oh honestly, Priestly, it was perfectly warm in here!

"Two nights ago," Karla said, coming over to wrap her arms around the both of them. And grinning. Grinning so hard. They were still together, yay! "The longest night is our New Year's Eve. After that, the days get longer with the promise of spring."

Dinah giggled and hugged Karla and Priestly at the same time, humming with happiness and rum. "I do like how Glacia's holidays are all based on nature stuff. It makes it easier to keep track, and it's just so... you." It all made sense in context. She perched her chin on Priestly's shoulder, which was a lot easier than trying for the top of his head. "And thus we get three parties!"

"If you stay for the whole holiday, you'll get more than that," Karla said, rolling her eyes. "You'll get partied out, Darkness knows I do."

Winsol lasted for thirteen nights. That was a lot of parties.

"Awwww. Still! All the pretty clothes, and the lights, and the snow." Dinah sighed happily. "And anyway nothing interesting happens in January, you can sleep for a month." She grinned. "If Kayla and Nommy will let you."

Your home was named after a giant ice formation, Karla. There was no such thing as "perfectly warm" here. On principle.

"You know, people say that, but February is still just as dark and gloomy as December. I don't believe that's true."

He did, he knew what science was. He just wouldn't be Priestly if he didn't fuss.

There was Craft, Priestly. Craft and fire. It was downright toasty!

"How are you still so thin-blooded?" Karla asked, hands on her hips. "You've been living in places with winters for almost a decade now, you should be used to it."

By hiding inside, of course. "Just because I'm stuck living somewhere totally irresponsible doesn't mean I have to like it." He took another pouty sip of his rum. "It has nothing to do with blood thickness."

Dinah snickered and offered him her spiced rum. "This reminds me that we have to lay in another snow-suit for you." You'll look like the Michelin Man, wandering around New Gotham, Priestly!

"Or you could just let me stay home all winter like a rational person."

Or, you know, like a bear. One of those.

"Priestly!" Momoko would glomp him but she was too busy being excited to see him and Dinah so cute.

THEY WERE STILL TOGETHER!!! SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE?!

Don't worry; Momoko was totally not hiding tiny D+P flags anywhere on her person. They were in her rooms.

"Did you get the birthday cookies?! Did you?" Okay, maybe there was an attempt at a bouncy hug.

Oh like Priestly wasn't going to glomp her right back?

"Of course I did," he said. "And the coats! How'd you know I need all the coats?"

Because you never shut up about the cold, maybe.

"Because you have no tolerance for cold," Momoko giggled and gave him an extra squeeze. "I don't know how Dinah and I fell for guys who don't like winter. Jaime puts an extra blanket on the bed if it gets below 70!"

"Did the yellow one fit? I had that one Sentience dress in mind when I picked it out. That and the fact that our Gotham averages two feet of snow a week."

"It looks gorgeous," Priestly assured her. "All my drag friends are jealous. I'm looking for the perfect enormous earmuffs to wear with it."

Also the perfect wig. He'd never have guessed he'd be trying to accessorize around a snuggly warm coat.

Leto only met Dinah at Karla's these days, it seemed, but it was good to see her when that happened.

"Happy whatever holiday you are inclined to celebrate," he greeted. "Did you know you have an evil lookalike in Fandom nowadays?"

"Leto!" Dinah offered him a hug, then said in a bewildered voice, "Is she a vampire?"

Dinah got a hug back. "No, she is the Mayor and she tried to pour hot milk over me."

He had been quite angry at the time, but now he grinned.

Dinah was laughing by the time they disengaged. "Oh, her. Crankypants. Yeah, I ran into her there about a year ago. And what did you do to inspire hot-milk baths?"

"I looked at her. And when she objected I told her she looked like a friend."

Leto took a sip of rum. He hadn't even tried to upset her.

"DIIIIIIIIIIINAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

That was all the warning she got.

What? There had been cookies.

"It's been forEVER!" At last since they'd been physically together. Phone calls totally didn't count with besties. "Happy Winsol, Happy Christmas!"

"Happy New Year, Happy Solstice!" Dinah chanted back to her, squeezing her tight. "It has been! Way too long! How's Texas how's your Barbara how's Jaime's family how are you?"

"Texas is hot, despite Jaime's whining, everyone's fine, and she's not Barbara, she's Orrrrracle. As she totally keeps reminding me. I still wonder what happened to make her so strict. Maybe because she doesn't have you guys with her?" Momoko still wasn't sure where Ms Helena was in Jaime's world. He'd SAID she was there...

"She keeps sending me on assignments, so I can't say anything bad about her though. My costume isn't being as weird as it was so I should be able to do real work again soon, though."
