The Estate, Sidra, Glacia, Thursday (Fandom Time)

Winsol had been going on now for several days. The family had just decamped from SaDiablo Hall in Dhemlan back home to Glacia to continue the festivities in their own home. There would be several more days of formal events, but this evening was just for family and close friends (specifically friends close enough to be family). The children were tumbling around like puppies, a mix of Earth and Kaeleeran carols were playing from floating music spheres scattered throughout the suite, fires crackled in the large hearths, and food and punch and hot spiced rum were piled high on the sideboards throughout. "Happy Winsol!" Karla said, holding up her cup in a toast.

"Happy Winsol!" the room chorused back to her.

Oh honestly, Priestly, it was perfectly warm in here!

"Two nights ago," Karla said, coming over to wrap her arms around the both of them. And grinning. Grinning so hard. They were still together, yay! "The longest night is our New Year's Eve. After that, the days get longer with the promise of spring."

Dinah giggled and hugged Karla and Priestly at the same time, humming with happiness and rum. "I do like how Glacia's holidays are all based on nature stuff. It makes it easier to keep track, and it's just so... you." It all made sense in context. She perched her chin on Priestly's shoulder, which was a lot easier than trying for the top of his head. "And thus we get three parties!"

"If you stay for the whole holiday, you'll get more than that," Karla said, rolling her eyes. "You'll get partied out, Darkness knows I do."

Winsol lasted for thirteen nights. That was a lot of parties.

"Awwww. Still! All the pretty clothes, and the lights, and the snow." Dinah sighed happily. "And anyway nothing interesting happens in January, you can sleep for a month." She grinned. "If Kayla and Nommy will let you."

"Have you met my children?" Karla whined asked as said children ran shrieking about the room with Hania. "They could wake up a bloody bear in the middle of the winter. Who knew children could be so shrill?"

Dinah's giggle bubbled out of her without any conscious decision on it, and she leaned over to pet Karla's hair. "Awwwwww. No silencing spells for the little people? No muffling sounds for your ears? Guess I'll just have to send you some ear-plugs." Notice she already had given up on small children being quiet. "They have to come visit New Gotham in spring. For the whole week that it lasts before it's summer."

Because she was a realist, dammit.

"Warren gets grumpy when I mute the children," Karla grumbled. "Something about how they could be in trouble and we wouldn't hear. I tried explaining that it was more likely they'd be causing trouble, but somehow that didn't make it better."

Warred was dreadful that way.

"Do you want just the littles? Or Cora and Nyles, too?"

"They're totally welcome! You think they'd want to come?" Dinah bit her lip, looking hopeful. "It might weird them out more than the little kids, since they're old enough to know how different it is from Glacia. But if they'd want to, we could show them around, and go to Millennium Mile, and maybe catch a Knights game."

"They should get to see other worlds," Karla said, smiling over to where Cora and Nyles stood by the Winsol tree, keeping an eye on the smaller children and rarely more than a foot or so apart. "I don't want any of my children to feel bound here when there's a whole multiverse available for them to find their way in."

"You're such a Mom. Such a good Mom." Dinah hugged her, tugging her closer and almost off her feet as she swayed. "And, we should do girly-girl time while you're there. Are you working too hard? Are the stupider nobles easing up any?"

Your home was named after a giant ice formation, Karla. There was no such thing as "perfectly warm" here. On principle.

"You know, people say that, but February is still just as dark and gloomy as December. I don't believe that's true."

He did, he knew what science was. He just wouldn't be Priestly if he didn't fuss.

There was Craft, Priestly. Craft and fire. It was downright toasty!

"How are you still so thin-blooded?" Karla asked, hands on her hips. "You've been living in places with winters for almost a decade now, you should be used to it."

By hiding inside, of course. "Just because I'm stuck living somewhere totally irresponsible doesn't mean I have to like it." He took another pouty sip of his rum. "It has nothing to do with blood thickness."

"Don't worry," Karla said, patting his forearm companionably. "We've set up a sauna in the back gardens. After a few minutes in there, you'll really appreciate a dip in the icy lake! We'll get you acclimated in no time."

"Why would anybody ever want to do that? You know people die that way, right? Like, really easily."

"It's only a short dip," Karla said innocently. "You'll be fine."

"I will be," Priestly agreed. "Because there is literally no way you're going to talk me into doing anything remotely like that."

"You can't possibly complain about the cold if you're passing up a chance to go into a sauna," Karla said, with no actual bearing on reality or Priestly's personality.

Dinah snickered and offered him her spiced rum. "This reminds me that we have to lay in another snow-suit for you." You'll look like the Michelin Man, wandering around New Gotham, Priestly!

"Or you could just let me stay home all winter like a rational person."

Or, you know, like a bear. One of those.

Dinah smirked at him. He was so cute when he was delusional.

"The Wayne New Year's Eve Party is non-optional. Still." At least Wayne Tower was well-heated for that, even with the rooftop ballroom. "This year it might not even get hijacked!"

"Besides, you love snow." ... sort of.

"What on earth did I do to give you that idea?" He actually enjoyed snow on a very short-term basis. Very short term. If it didn't melt by the end of the day, he got very sulky.

"You do! You like it when it first shows up, and there's snowflakes melting on your tongue." Or Dinah's, stuck out to catch more than a few. "I'm so getting you those electric sock-warmer things for Christmas... maybe."

"Or heat packs! Alfred knows how to make those." Or huge hugs from your girlfriend, who ran warm a lot of the time, like now. "But I want to go ice-skating with you." Because it was romantic. And potentially hilarious.
