A Private Dining Room, The Estate, Glacia

The small dining room that Karla had set aside for her 'out of town' guests to dine in tonight was one of the ones they hadn't gotten around to denuding of Ludmilla's and/or Hobart's horrible taste in decor yet. Karla had chosen it deliberately, figuring her friends might get a kick out of how completely hideous it was. Everyone knew that extravagantly tacky surroundings aided digestion, right?

Well, Karla was a Healer. She's swear to it, anyway.

And, who knew? Maybe she'd give everyone a souvenir or something! 'I came to Karla's coronation and all I got was this ugly figurine.'

This was how they knew she cared!

Tomorrow was for long, boring speeches and painful formality. Tonight, she was looking forward to just hanging out with friends, having a good time, and threatening to make people sleep in some of the bedrooms that had thus far escaped redecoration.

Any question where Glacia's treasury had wandered off to?

"Of course not!" Karla was indignant. "You were of sound mind and body. In fact, that's exactly what you said! 'I, Warren, of both sound mind and body, totally love it when I am privileged enough to be Karla's foot warmer. It makes me feel happy and useful and loved.'"

This absolutely happened, Warren! How could you not remember this very real and not at all made up thing?

Warren took a moment to consider that, one eyebrow raised.

"I'm willing to buy that only because I'm well aware of how difficult it really is for me to actually get that drunk," he decided. "Just this once."

"And because of how much you loooooooove me," Karla added, holding her face up for a kiss. "And my cold feet."

"Yeah, even your cold feet," Warren chuckled, leaning down to lay claim to that kiss, folding a wing around her almost possessively. "See, that's true love. It's got to be."

"Just like I love you, even when you're molting," Karla teased, nipping his bottom lip. "And, guess what."

"Hmm? Can't be almost time for a molt," Warren murmured, folding his other wing around her, too. "It's only fall."

That would be pretty much the worst thing ever. Warren would live with wings stained red forever, if it meant he didn't have to deal with another molt so soon.

"You're getting a new contract tomorrow," Karla whispered up to him. "I hope you've got a flask you can drink from to get the taste of blood from your mouth."

Because she was keeping you forever, Warren. Just as a head's up.

Warren gave her a warm smile, there behind the wall of feathers from his wings.

"You say that like I'd want to get the taste out at all," he replied, practically purred, as he pulled her closer still. "I'm yours. All that's left is to make it official."

Well. Permanently official. And if, in the time leading up to that moment, he spent a good amount of it burying his face in the crook of her neck and breathing her in, that was their business and nobody else's.

Because that was going to stop after they made it permanently official?

"You're not allowed to do that," Karla informed him. "No purring before dinner. We have guests to entertain. Sneaking off to an empty room is not in the cards."

Of course it wouldn't stop. Why would it stop? He would probably just do it more frequently. And perhaps a touch more possessively, too.

"And here I thought you had chosen this room in particular because of the really, really effective distraction it poses..."

Nobody would notice they'd left!

"Nope," Karla teased. "I chose it because I knew it would be an effective dash of cold water on your libido. I mean, look at this thing Dinah found."

How was your erection doing now, Warren? Did she need to point to your father, too?

Not if she ever wanted him to have another one again, she didn't.

"... Oh god, Karla. Don't point that thing at me." At least she was right about the effect this room had on his libido? "Ugh, that's awful."

"We're giving it to Dinah," Karla promised him. "She seems to like it. Or at least like philosophizing about why it has an orb...there."

"Can we not think about what the orb is for? Please?"

Please, Karla? Warren didn't ask for much!

"... It's her sexyball?"

What was a sexyball? It was probably best if the world never know.

Perhaps so, which just meant that Karla could only ask one thing.

"Can I have a sexyball? Why haven't you ever given me a sexyball? Do you think I don't deserve a sexy ball?"

"Just as soon as I figure out what a sexyball does, I'll get right on that," Warren promised. "Just for you."

He was going to scour the internet for a shiny ball with a vibrator in it now, Karla. Just because.
