Karla had fallen asleep the night before before she had a chance to listen to radio (and going to bed early just meant more times to have creepy and disturbing dreams), so the first thing she did was queue up the podcast.

And listened in horror to name after name after name of missing and vanished.

"Hell's fire, Mother Night, and may the Darkness be merciful," she murmured reaching for her phone. She needed to call the other Reserves leaders right away.

Something was batting at her leg. Karla stifled a scream, preparing to look down and see another one of those giant cockroaches. "Mew?"

Rather than anything gross or creepy, Yei was there, curled up against her foot, looking almost...forlorn? "Oh, come here sweethear," Karla said, bending down to pick the kitten up. "Your Mommy never came home last night, did she?" No, Hinata had vanished with Warren according to the radio. Snuggling the kitten closer, Karla promised, "Don't worry, Yei. I'll take care of you, I promise."

She reached for her phone again. There was work to do.

It was a soot-covered Karla that arrived back in Fandom that evening. There hadn't even been enough time for her to get washed up before she'd been tossed into a Coach for home.

After Jaenelle had released her shield over the Hall, Lucivar, Saetan, and several other burly male servants had rushed out into the wreckage of the kitchen--and skidded to a stop when they saw a pair of very guilty witches surveying the damage and trying to figure out how they could spin this.

Saetan's lecture--and Lucivar's laughter--had been cut short when Holt came running up from the drive. "Coach!" he said, pointing. "From Halaway! Sylvia! Beale! Mrs. Beale!"

Terror galvanized them all into action. Saetan had practically tossed Jaenelle at Lucivar, barking, "Ebon-Gray Wind to the Dea al Mon. Now!" Before they'd even had a chance to catch the Wind, Saetan was doing the same thing to Karla. "Take the Red Wind to the Coaching station," he ordered Holt, who'd caught her.

One very uncomfortable Coach ride later (Holt had kept trying not to laugh the entire way) and one hastily-ordered emergency portal back to Fandom, and there was Karla, looking for all the world like a chimney-sweep.

"Kiss kiss," she said tiredly to the cabin at large.

[Mostly establishy, but open for cabinmates and friends. SP warning in effect, as we'll be heading home...sometime?]

After a day like yesterday, all Karla wanted to do was relax. However, that was apparently not to be. She'd had several calls to make, both of which were probably going to lead to Discussions. Actually, she was rather hoping they did--she missed Jack utterly and, well, when it came to the whole Gaia/Edge/Midgar thing, she really needed guidance. Between her vow of silence and her worry of royally screwing up an entire planet's future, there wasn't a whole lot she could say. And she doubted Cloud was okay with what little she'd been able to tell him at 'Dite's yesterday.

You know, all this on top of yesterday. And the weekend. And the summer.

So Karla was just going to spend some quality time fretting, at least for a little while. Because that was productive, yes.

[Karla's expecting one, but open for cabinmates and friends anyway. SP warning in effect, as tonight is game night.]
