The Estate, Sidra, Glacia, Thursday (Fandom Time)

Winsol had been going on now for several days. The family had just decamped from SaDiablo Hall in Dhemlan back home to Glacia to continue the festivities in their own home. There would be several more days of formal events, but this evening was just for family and close friends (specifically friends close enough to be family). The children were tumbling around like puppies, a mix of Earth and Kaeleeran carols were playing from floating music spheres scattered throughout the suite, fires crackled in the large hearths, and food and punch and hot spiced rum were piled high on the sideboards throughout. "Happy Winsol!" Karla said, holding up her cup in a toast.

"Happy Winsol!" the room chorused back to her.

Dinah giggled and hugged Karla and Priestly at the same time, humming with happiness and rum. "I do like how Glacia's holidays are all based on nature stuff. It makes it easier to keep track, and it's just so... you." It all made sense in context. She perched her chin on Priestly's shoulder, which was a lot easier than trying for the top of his head. "And thus we get three parties!"

"If you stay for the whole holiday, you'll get more than that," Karla said, rolling her eyes. "You'll get partied out, Darkness knows I do."

Winsol lasted for thirteen nights. That was a lot of parties.

"Awwww. Still! All the pretty clothes, and the lights, and the snow." Dinah sighed happily. "And anyway nothing interesting happens in January, you can sleep for a month." She grinned. "If Kayla and Nommy will let you."

"Have you met my children?" Karla ~~whined~~ asked as said children ran shrieking about the room with Hania. "They could wake up a bloody bear in the middle of the winter. Who knew children could be so shrill?"

Anyone ever, Karla.

Dinah's giggle bubbled out of her without any conscious decision on it, and she leaned over to pet Karla's hair. "Awwwwww. No silencing spells for the little people? No muffling sounds for your ears? Guess I'll just have to send you some ear-plugs." Notice she already had given up on small children being quiet. "They have to come visit New Gotham in spring. For the whole week that it lasts before it's summer."

Because she was a realist, dammit.

"Warren gets grumpy when I mute the children," Karla grumbled. "Something about how they could be in trouble and we wouldn't hear. I tried explaining that it was more likely they'd be causing trouble, but somehow that didn't make it better."

Warred was dreadful that way.

"Do you want just the littles? Or Cora and Nyles, too?"

"They're totally welcome! You think they'd want to come?" Dinah bit her lip, looking hopeful. "It might weird them out more than the little kids, since they're old enough to know how different it is from Glacia. But if they'd want to, we could show them around, and go to Millennium Mile, and maybe catch a Knights game."

"They should get to see other worlds," Karla said, smiling over to where Cora and Nyles stood by the Winsol tree, keeping an eye on the smaller children and rarely more than a foot or so apart. "I don't want any of my children to feel bound here when there's a whole multiverse available for them to find their way in."

"You're such a Mom. Such a good Mom." Dinah hugged her, tugging her closer and almost off her feet as she swayed. "And, we should do girly-girl time while you're there. Are you working too hard? Are the stupider nobles easing up any?"

"Yeeees?" Karla looked troubled for a moment. "Everything is fine. Better than fine. The nobles are happy, my Court is content, we're recovering from the war beautifully. Hobart's gone to ground in Little Terreille and no one has seen him since. There's nothing amiss..."

There was a giant, unsaid 'but' hanging there, though.

"Uh-hunh." Dinah paused, studying Karla's face. "Which is all awesome, just. You sound like you're still worried."

"I keep having dreams," Karla said. "Black Widow dreams, though I can't make heads nor tails of them. Not to mention the dream I had for Nommy." Who was in his crib now, dreaming sleepy little baby dreams. "That if I hadn't had him them, I never would have. It's just enough to make me uneasy."

Dinah frowned, looking worried. "That's... justified. Just not enough to do anything about. I mean, if I had money to bet, it'd be on Hobart. But he's too sneaky to predict from a dream." She bit her lip. "Wish I could help. But I've never been an early-warning system on dreams. More like a tornado siren."

Karla laughed at that. It was an accurate description, yes.

"I'll probably talk to Jaenelle when we head back to the Dark Court. She may have some ideas. Especially since she's been in a few."

"She is the expert.. how is she doing these days, by the way?" Karla's Queen had been through enough over time; hopefully things were going smoother for her now. "Is anyone else having the same kinds of problems you did, with Hobart?"

"Don't tell her, but she's really enjoying being Queen," Karla said with a fond grin. "It helps that her First Circle is made up of all the coven and boyos. Oh! Guess who started serving in one of her middle Circles right before we left on holiday. Do you remember Cassidy?"

"Aww, that's great." Dinah frowned, thinking, then her face cleared. "The little redhead? That's the one I'm thinking of?"

"The one who worked in the library, yes." Karla smiled. "A different version of her, but yes. I kept wanting to give her hugs, but she doesn't know me, so..."

"Awww!" Dinah laughed. "That would probably weird her right out, wouldn't it? But it's nice that someone from Fandom turned up here, even if not *exactly* the same. And Lucivar's doing good?" Sorry, Karla. Dinah's crush would take a long time to die.

"He and Marian have a son now," Karla said, grinning. "Daemonar, after his brother. He's just starting to toddle around and fly. Giving everyone at the Hall gray hairs with the mischief he gets up to."

And, of course, she had family of her own to ask after. "How are the newlyweds? And Helena and Alfred?"

"That's adorable. I want to see that." Seriously! A teeny Lucivar! Dinah was there to see that interaction!

"Barbara and Dick are still disgustingly newlywed- I'm glad I moved out before this. Helena's... well. She and Reese are in another of there off-again phases. I don't want to know why." Because vigilantes should not date cops, that was why. "And Alfred is training extra help. He's going to be 80 in February, so, it's overdue."
